Emerging Designer
Quincy Brownlee-Adesokan
Quincy Brownlee-Adesokan is the designer behind De-Vardor Kutuo, first began industrial sewing at the age of 15 in Screven, Georgia. During her small-town upbringing, she wore handmade clothing and embraced her bare face. Even then, she understood
the unique beauty of creating something new from trunks of fabrics stored in her family home. Today, her De-Vardor Kutuo line is a love letter to the west African culture, highlighting the beauty of African fabrics and traditions. Quincy works closely with local artisans in west Africa, personally selecting the fabrics, beads, and stones that bring her creations to life. The result? An African-inspired collection designed for men and women of any background, transforming everyday clothing into vibrant (but classy!) conversation pieces. As a granddaughter of direct descendants of west and central Africa, Quincy views De-Vardor Kutuo as an opportunity to connect with her roots while celebrating her creative gifts. And don’t worry—she’s just getting started!
